For those who do not find themselves celebrating
Valentine’s Day with a significant other,
why not do something… different this year.
Find someone who really needs to feel love – and let them feel loved.

It’s after midnight, and
by all rights I should go to sleep.
But then again, some things can’t wait.
Ever since last night a line
has been repeating itself
over and over in my head.
“There are bigger things at work here…”
It’s a line (or close to it) from

Last week I’m at the store walking
around an aisle when all of a sudden,
a line from a movie pops in my head;
“I see dead people,
only they don’t know they’re dead.”
(this is my paraphrased version -
I haven’t seen the movie in 7+ years)
To which my mind echoed back this,
and it’s been haunting me ever since:
“I see great people,
only they don’t know they’re great…”
It took me a week to write this piece
because I don’t know how to convince

It was a fun night celebrated with friends
that brought me to downtown Portland.
That’s the Oregon one
(pronouned Or-ree-gahn by the out of towners) -
not the one in Maine on the OTHER coast.

Being open to the opportunity
that every encounter and
experience has to offer
Looking back upon so much that
at the time seemed such trash -
now seen for the treasure it was;
a Gift instead of garbage.
This is our Life – make it a love,
no matter what the moments bring;
cherish that you were here for them…
If there were an evil force in this world,
it’s best line of attack wouldn’t be a
full frontal assault, but rather a series
of challenges, failures and setbacks.
It would use such tactics as distraction,
disease, false hope, disappointment,
