What is a stranger but an Unmet Friend…

friends-peek-a-boo
Just as I opened the door to
the machine shop, the sounds -
very LOUD sounds – of barking
dogs meet my ears, and
for a moment I wonder:
Will I be a customer today… or lunch ?!
The four legged carnivores met me first,
tripping over themselves trying to see
who was going to get the first bite in.
Oh, but I recognized these dogs -
they might over 3 feet tall on all fours,
but they’re all puppy on the inside :)
I LOVE DOGS !!!
Of course I start petting on them & patting them -
driving them further crazy. I think I was about to say
“There’s a good girl” when the inevitable happened.
Yep. Uh huh.
Excited puppy kisses met an open mouth.

It’s all fun & games until someone gets a tongue in the mouth !
(Wait – isn’t that when the fun starts ?!?!? ;p )

About that time another human finally enters the scene.
Buzz kill. We were having so much fun !!!
Anyway.  He called the dogs off, I gave him the inlet from
my brother’s paintball marker & we chatted about how to
remove the screw that had broken at least one drill bit so far.
You know – boring stuff.  SO NOT cute puppies !

After I left & got in the car, I marveled at how
much I wished people were more like dogs.
Yeah yeah yeah – I’m sure there are bumper stickers
out there attesting to this very thing.
But really;   sometimes I do !
I mean come on – after less than 2 minutes -
and already a tongue in the mouth ?!?!?
There’s something to be said about that !!!
;)~

Now I don’t know dog-speak, but I figure as soon
as those dogs saw me I’m sure they thought:

“There has GOT to be something fun about this guy
and we are going to find out what it is !”
“”And if there isn’t, we’re going to make it fun anyway !””
“””Look at me ! Look at us ! Look at me ! Stay there !!”””
I know, probably not the best interpretation,
but like I said – I don’t know dog-speak !

The whole thing made me think of the time I was at
an indoorpark with my son and heard more than once;
“Do you want to be friends ?”  uttered by some gleeful child.

Most of us are just so… stuffy.
At what point did we go from being accepting, loving
and open with others to just being sticks in the mud?

I think we need to hang out with puppies &
kids who aren’t afraid to ask for friendship -
and try acting like we’re genuinely happy to
be with the other people who share our World.

Who knows – it could be contagious,
and wouldn’t that be an amazing way to live !
