I’m beginning to see something.
The fortunes inside fortune cookies are being written
by people who have a vested interest in cookie sales.
For example, today’s Fortune Cookie message:

” Be good to yourself. Dessert
three times per week is OK.

Earlier today I heard something said
that I’ve heard countless times before.
I may have even said it myself.

Someone had done something wrong,
and in their defense uttered these words:

“Oh well. I’m only human.”

The news came tonight that Dad’s latest chemo treatment
will be taking away his hair, so he got a buzz cut yesterday.

It is… absolutely baffling as it is infuriating that the
majority of people accept their doctor’s standard
