On the edge of the unknown…

the-unknown-350

It is nearly midnight,
and I do not know where my laptop is.

This might not sound newsworthy, other than the fact
that my laptop contains EVERYTHING I NEED to write.
And midnight is my deadline to write & post to you.

Fortunately I borrowed another computer,
figured out how to login into my website,
and grabbed my editing software from
a thumbdrive that had backup files on it.
Whew!!!

Now I have nothing to write about,
as my notes are on… you guessed it.
The laptop.

So, obviously my topic should be about the unknown!

Perfect, because it’s the one thing that
every single one of us has in common.
We fear it, yet many times are thrilled by it.
It can be both familiar and foreign to us
depending on the subject matter.
It holds us back while
remaining out of sight,
and it is at the beginning of
everything that we do know.

Let me rephrase that & repeat the meaning.

The unknown
is at the beginning
of everything we know.

From riding a bike to spelling the word “MISSISSIPPI”,
everything that we have seen, heard, touched, tasted,
smelled, felt, conquered and cowered from
was at one time unknown to us.

Now, there is a part of my brain that is becoming
VERY inspired at this notion, and the more I
grasp and embrace what this truly means,
the more I hope you can catch it as well.

Think of something that you are simply AWESOME at,
and that you can say with confidence that you know
pretty much everything there is to know about it.
Heck, we could just pick riding a bike.

I know I can go years without riding a bike,
but at any given moment I can hop on one
and go pedaling down the street like a pro.
Well, perhaps a wobbly pro at first  ;)

BUT THERE WAS A TIME
that I didn’t know how to ride a bike.

There was a time that I didn’t know
what a bike was, what it was for, or that
I would one day find myself riding one.

Same thing with driving a car.

Same thing with a new job/career.

Same thing with a new relationship.

Everyone you know you once never knew, right?

It’s just a part of Life – we cannot escape it.

THE UNKNOWN !!!
It is a daily adventure to one degree or another.

And yet we spend so much time fearing it,
trying to avoid it, and trying to convince
others and ourselves that it’s an insignificant
part of our Life that we lose sight of the fact that
THE UNKNOWN IS THE BEGINNING
OF EVERYTHING IN OUR LIFE.

That’s huge.

You know, I’m going to leave you with that,
because I want you to really digest it.

And… I’d like you to really consider
how you look at what you don’t know.

Do you fear it, or do you approach it as
you would meeting your best unmet friend?
