Changing the World – One Post-It at a time

let it go post it guy1

I carry a small filing cabinet wherever I go.
It’s called my wallet.  Rather than cash,
scraps of miscellaneous paper fill it to the brim.
A piece of napkin, a post-it note, gas receipt, etc.
On each is written a reminder of something -
typically a random thought created in my head.… —-> Continue…

Who Do You See?

eyes-C

Last week I’m at the store walking
around an aisle when all of a sudden,
a line from a movie pops in my head;

“I see dead people,
only they don’t know they’re dead.”

(this is my paraphrased version -
I haven’t seen the movie in 7+ years)

To which my mind echoed back this,
and it’s been haunting me ever since:

“I see great people,
only they don’t know they’re great…”

It took me a week to write this piece
because I don’t know how to convince
someone who doesn’t already know it.… —-> Continue…

Communication in an assuming world

I’m writing another book.

Now, for the most part, my previous book was

more of a collection of stories with a variety

Picture a long dining table – adorned with
the finest china, the most exquisite silverware.… —-> Continue…

HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE ME?

How-long-will-you-pass-by-350
It was a fun night celebrated with friends
that brought me to downtown Portland.
That’s the Oregon one
(pronouned Or-ree-gahn by the out of towners) -
not the one in Maine on the OTHER coast.
It was on the walk back to the car that I saw it.… —-> Continue…

Take the First Step!

staircase350x350d

Some time ago, I ran across this
quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.

“You don’t have to see
the whole staircase,
just take the first step.”

When I read this, I pictured a spiral staircase -
one that quickly turned out of sight as it twisted upward.… —-> Continue…

In Ever Loving Memory of Dad…

“Will you be a pallbearer?” he asked me.
I looked at him – not understanding the question.
A pallbearer is someone who helps carry a casket
at a funeral, and we weren’t having a funeral.
We were just… we were just here.… —-> Continue…
